Honey Chicken Yep Its Sweet
Honey Chicken is sweet. Full stop. Thats why kids are mad for it and even when we grow up and know that its not good for us, we still cant resist it.
The sweet is somewhat balanced by the savouriness of the chicken the marinade and that crunchy fried crust. But overall, it is a sweet dish.
There is no sign of any sour or spicy in the Honey Sauce of Chinese restaurants. It is honey plus a bit of seasoning to add salt and a hint of complexity soy sauce and Chinese cooking wine.
But if you want to introduce sour or spicy, please read the recipe notes for how to do this without compromising this no-soggy sauce.

How To Make Flavor Honey Gold Sauce Step By Step:
- in the saucepan melt, 3 tablespoons of butter don’t overcook I mean don’t make the butter brown.
- when it completely melted add ½ cup hot sauce and stir until combine.
- add ½ cup honey and 2 tablespoons white vinegar and cook for 2 min, until you notice the odor.
- now for seasoning add the salt, black pepper, garlic pepper, turmeric heaping, and red pepper and stir until combine
- adds the brown sugar, simmer until the sugar melted.

These sticky honey glazed chicken drumsticks are finger-lickin good!! The honey-soy glaze make the drumsticks so flavorful and completely irresistible. These are amazing served with steamy white rice and vegetables. We LOVE chicken drumsticks in our house chicken legs are inexpensive and easily feed a crowd.
These baked chicken drumsticks literally show up on the menu every other Sunday! This recipe makes a big batch of chicken legs and you can cut down the recipe for a smaller crew, but I personally always make the big pack of drumsticks and if were lucky enough to have leftovers, they make for a great quick lunch the next day.
Ingredients for Honey Glazed Chicken:
5 lbs chicken drumsticks 4 large garlic cloves, minced or finely grated 1 Tbsp ginger, peeled and finely grated Sesame seeds and chives for garnish, optional
*if using low sodium soy sauce, add 1 1/2 tsp salt to the recipe. Use gluten free soy sauce like Tamari to make this gluten free.

- Olive oil: you may use any other oil you have
- Chicken: we used chicken breast but feel free to use bonelss chicken thighs or even switch it up and use shrimp or salmon.
- Seasonings and herbs: lemon-pepper, salt & pepper, fresh parsley
- Garlic: please use fresh garlic cloves for the best taste. If you must you can use garlic powder but we do highly recommend using fresh.
- Chicken broth: if you dont have any chicken broth you may use vegetable broth
- Soy sauce: use low sodium or you may use coconut aminos
- Flour: we used gluten-free flour but you can use all-purpose or wheat flour
- Honey: we prefer that you use honey, but you can also use maple syrup or brown sugar. The taste will vary slightly.

Tips For The Perfect Chicken

- Be sure to use a frying thermometer so that you can closely monitor the temperature of the oil. If the oil is too hot, the coating can burn before the chicken is cooked through. If the oil is too cold, the chicken will absorb excess grease.
- This dish is best served immediately as the chicken coating will eventually soften as it soaks up the sauce. If youd like to have leftovers for another day, plan to store a portion of the crispy chicken separate from the sauce. That way you can reheat the chicken and sauce on their own, and the dish will maintain its flavor and texture.
- I typically use a basic clover honey for my honey chicken, but other varieties of honey will also work. I recommend using a milder flavor honey so that the flavor of the sauce doesnt overpower the chicken.
- Use a neutral flavored oil with a high smoke point such as vegetable oil, canola oil or peanut oil.
How To Make It
- First we dredge the chicken in cornflour , salt and pepper. Then we fry in oil over a hot pan until golden brown.
- Add a little butter to the pan along with some minced garlic.
- Add honey, stock, rice vinegar and light soy sauce to a bowl and stir together. Add to the pan with the chicken and bring to the boil. Let it simmer and reduce until thick and sticky.
- Top the chicken with chopped parsley and chilli flakes.
I sometimes shy away from using chicken thighs in recipes, as they’re more fiddly and usually require more trimming to remove the fat than chicken breasts.
However for this recipe, you can leave some of the fat on, as the chicken is fried over a high heat, so that fat will crisp up nicely. The thigh meat is also more tender than breast meat, and it can handle the short burst of high heat without drying out.

How To Make Baked Honey Chicken Wings
- First, preheat your oven at 425°F
- in a bowl mix 1 cup flour with 1 tablespoon salt and 1 tablespoon black pepper.
- Toss the chicken wings in the flour mixture and remove any excess flour and brush with olive oil .
- grease your pan with oil or butter or simply line it with foil, then add the chicken wings and bake for about 35 min, and turning at 20 min.
- now in a saucepan and over medium heat add cup of water and 1 tablespoon corn starch and stir until combines
- now add the ½ cup of honey, 4 tablespoons soy sauces, 4 crushed garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon ginger, and 1.2 tbsp chili flakes and mix them.
- reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
- remove the wings from the oven, toss with sauce then turn it back to the oven for 10 minutes, turning after 5 minutes. leave some amount of sauce to serve with next.
- remove it and leave it to cool for 10 min then serve it with the sauce.
