Actually, nothing could be further from the truth with Wendys new sweet-n-spicy chicken biscuit offering. It is all sweet and no spice. We tried it out from a location in the Northeastern US, along with their honey butter biscuits and Seasoned Potatoes .
The hot honey chicken biscuit was a big miss on spiciness and overall taste. It is almost impossible to taste any of the habanero spice. The most dominant flavor is the sweetness of the honey. What is worse is that the fried chicken fillet is dry. And so is the biscuit.
A biscuit this dry is better suited with creamy white sausage gravy. Not on its own in a breakfast sandwich like this one. We were disappointed in this new offering from Wendys. On the other hand, the Seasoned Potatoes were a refreshing twist of pepper and garlic. Too bad there is nothing else from Wendys breakfast menu to pair it with.

Its one of two new chicken sandwiches the company announced on Wednesday, including the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. Both of them feature chicken breast drizzled with a hot honey sauce made with habanero pepper.
Chicken on its own is bland, John Li, vice president of culinary innovation with Wendys, told a group of reporters and bloggers on Wednesday. That makes it a great place to try new flavors. It becomes a painters canvas to build flavor, he said. Chicken is going to be our canvas. We are going to play with it and own it and embrace it.
The breakfast sandwich, priced at $3.19, will feature a chicken fillet topped with hot honey and served on a buttermilk biscuit.
The Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, priced at $5.99, features a chicken breast, pepper jack cheese, three strips of bacon, crispy pickle chips and the hot honey sauce on a premium bun.
Wendys is also offering a Hot Honey Dip Cup for customers not ready to commit to getting the spicy honey on a sandwich.
Wendys has been working on the product for two years and has tested numerous types of peppers before settling on the habanero pepper. They have a ton of flavor, Eryn Bennett, manager of culinary and product innovation, said of the pepper.

The main issue is, the components of the sandwich itself are just a nondescript biscuit and a dry piece of fried chicken. If the base sandwich itself just sort of sucks, then nothing can rescue it, no matter what kind of exciting condiment you put on top. So overall, the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit fails for me by whiffing the fundamentals.

Wendys new breakfast menu is packed with mouthwatering items such as the Breakfast Baconator and the Sausage Biscuit. But thats not all, theyre also offering a new Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit thats described as sweet and savory at the same time and is only 500 calories per serving of which 260 come from fat.
The new breakfast sandwich consists of delicious ingredients such as a perfectly seasoned crispy chicken fillet, topped with maple honey butter on a fluffy buttermilk biscuit.
The sandwich is also available as part of a breakfast combo that has between 530 and 1140 calories. To make the combo as light as possible, pair the sandwich with Apple Bites, which only add 35 calories, and choose a zero-calorie drink like water, Coke Zero, or Diet Coke.
